For the past seventy-five years the State Bank of Withee has served the people
of the Village of Withee and surrounding area with financial support and help.
The bank was incorporated one year after the incorporation of the village, which
was in April 1901, thus the bank has played an important part in the development
of the community and the farming area around ti, and has also been a major
impetus for that development.
This month, on October 16, 1977, the State Bank of Withee will be celebrating
those seventy-five years of banking service coinciding with a “Grand Open House”
for their recently completed addition, which is scheduled for Sunday, October
16, 1977.
To honor the State Bank of Withee and take part in their anniversary
celebration, the Owen Enterprise will feature a series of articles on the
history of the bank and a brief look at past and present individuals who played
a part in the bank, and thus the development of Withee and surrounding farm
area.
Material for these articles has come from both written materials, including
Memory Trains and The History of Clark County of 1918, and individuals, Mrs.
Kathrin (Tufts) Roden, Mrs. Theodore Hendricks and Natalie Scherf.
