------ Busse, Shirley Ann (26 JUN 1965)
The wedding of Miss Shirley Ann Busse and George W. Zahrt
of rural Ringle took place at St. Peter’s Lutheran church, Dorchester, at 3 p.m.
Saturday, June 26, with a brother of the bride, Rev. Arlan Busse of Freedom Pa.,
and the Rev. F. H. Sprengler, pastor officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. John Busse of Abbotsford, route 1 are the
parents of the bride, and Mr. Zahrt’s parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Zahrt.
The exquisite wedding gown was of pure silk organza over
white faille taffeta with a train.
The molded bodice was fashioned with a modified scoop neckline.
The long organza sleeves tapered to points over the wrists, where they
were secured with white covered buttons.
Across the front midriff was delicate Alencon floral lace appliqué with
white seed embroidery.
The skirt was of organza, with a controlled front with
fullness in the back created by small unpressed pleats starting from the side
waistlines. Down the skirt front
were two large sprays and two appliqués of Alencon lace.
The skirt back was also sprinkled with appliques into the train, which
was full sweep in chapel length. A
flat bow trimmed the back waist. The
bridal veil of illusion in bouffant was secured to a pearl band crown.
It had small loops and peaks outlined with larger entwined pearl loops.
Each loop and peak was tipped with crystals.
The bride’s pendant bouquet showed a cascade of pink
sweetheart roses, white feathered carnations and lily of the valley.
A string of pearls, a gift from the groom, completed her ensemble.
The bride’s attendants wore heart beat blue floor length
dresses fashioned of combination white Rachel lace and peau de soie.
They were styled with A-line skirts, bodices of white lace over blue with
scoop necklines and elbow length sleeves.
Shirts were topped with pleated bands at the waists, ending in a large
bow and streamers at the back.
Matching forward hats with double pouf veils were worn, and they carried
crescent shape cascade bouquets of blue carnations and white pompons and lemon
leaves.
Miss Joan Kleinschmidt of Wausau, a friend of the couple
was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Carol Jean Busse, Abbotsford, a cousin of the bride, and Lou Ann Zahrt,
Ringle, daughter of the groom.
Myron Zahrt, Ringle, a brother of the groom, was best
man, and the groomsmen were Glenn Thorpe of Minneapolis, nephew of the groom,
and Eugene Busse, Hinsdale, Ill., brother of the bride.
Ushers were John L. Busse, Marshfield, brother of the bride, and Merlin
Zahrt of Wausau, cousin of the groom.
“O Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer” were sung by
Miss Diane Schultz of Curtiss during the ceremony, and the congregation sang
“Now Thank We All Our God”.
A dinner was served in the church parlors to about 200
guests, and a reception was held from 6 p.m. to 12 at Jerkwater hall, rural
Dorchester.
The church was decorated with large white bows marking
the pews, and the altar had bouquets of white and pink pompons and snapdragons,
and baskets of pink and white peonies.
After the wedding trip to the eastern states and Canada,
the couple will make their home at rural Ringle, where the groom is a farmer in
the town of Easton. The bride was
employed at Marathon Electric Manufacturing Co. at Wausau.
Guests attending came from Oregon, South Dakota,
Pennsylvania, Illinois, Minnesota, Kenosha, Madison, Bonduel, Shawano, Wausau,
Merrill, Ringle, Aniwa, Marshfield, Stratford, Colby, Dorchester, Abbotsford and
Spencer.
